The meticulous art of making clothes from wool begins with the shearing of animal wool, which is then gently washed and dispersed to achieve ultimate softness. After the wool is spun, its elongation and restructuring begins, by fastening strings of wool to wooden sticks. Later, the wool is handed over to craftsperson or “jola” to make clothing out of. As seen in this photo taken in Halsho, 55-year old craftswoman Pura Base is passionately crafting lenin. From there, fabric will be handled by someone who will polish and coat the fabric, to achieve the perfect texture for a Kurdish-styled suit.
