Politics and Governance

The Politics and Governance department at the NSI is dedicated to the study of political systems, institutions and processes in the Kurdistan Region and beyond. Through rigorous research and analysis, this theme aims to provide decision-makers and the general public with a deeper understanding of the complex challenges facing governance in the region. The NSI’s work in this area covers a wide range of topics, including public policy development and implementation, political participation and representation, democratic institutions and processes, and regional and international relations. Our research aims to inform policymakers, civil society organizations, and the general public on ways to strengthen governance, promote democratic values, and ensure equitable access to political power. By providing expert advice to decision-makers and promoting a greater public understanding of governance issues, this department hopes to contribute to the development of more effective policy solutions that can help build a more prosperous future for all citizens.
