ECONOMY AND THE MARKET

This department focuses on the economic challenges facing the Kurdistan Region of Iraq in a volatile and uncertain regional and global context. It examines the impact of oil dependency, fiscal policy, public sector reform, private sector development, trade and investment, human capital, poverty and inequality on the economic well-being and resilience of the region. It also explores the potential of alternative sources of income and growth, such as agriculture, tourism, renewable energy and digital economy. This department also studies the opportunities that arise for businesses, investors, and consumers, as well as the implications of globalization on local and national economies. Hence it aims to provide evidence-based analysis and policy recommendations to foster a more diversified, productive and sustainable economy for the Kurdistan Region.
